Hetlinger tax credits still available By Brandy Nance Tuesday, December 14, 2010Less than a month remains in Hetlinger’s $2 million challenge grant and tax credits are still available for those wishing to donate. Earlier this year, Hetlinger, which provides support for individuals with developmental disabilities, announced a $400,000 challenge grant had been issued to the organization. The grant is a capital campaign challenge grant from the J.E. and L.E. Mabee Foundation of Tulsa. According to an earlier press release from Hetlinger, the grant is to help support Hetlinger’s $2 million “Everyday Heroes Campaign.” The campaign will fund the renovation and expansion of the organization’s 45-year-old building. It will allow the organization to serve 25 percent more clients in the building. Expansion
The budget for the project includes $1.55 million for construction; $180,000 for furnishings and equipment; and $270,000 for professional fees, totaling $2 million. Tax credits Tax credits are available until Dec. 31 for those making a donation to Hetlinger. The tax credits allow the donor to receive 50 percent of their donation back through a tax credit. If $1,000 is donated and the donor doesn’t owe any state taxes, the donor will be sent $500 back. The donor also can use the donation as a deduction from federal taxes as well. Hetlinger has raised $1,645,000 to date with $355,000 left to raise by the Jan. 10 deadline or the $400,000 challenge grant will be lost. To donate to the campaign, contact Hetlinger at 342-1087.
